Derek Melnychuk, co-founder of Screens of Georgia, hails from Western Canada, where his early years in his parents' construction company laid the foundation for his robust work ethic and comprehensive understanding of construction—from foundations and framing to roofing and finishing. His transition to running his own crew was seamless, a testament to his leadership and depth of knowledge. Derek's foray into the retractable screen business marked the beginning of an innovative path, making him a pioneer in the field. With thousands of personal installations under his belt, Derek's experience and insight into the industry are unmatched.
Leanne Melnychuk grew up in metro Vancouver, working as an auditor for the Alberta Treasury Department before moving to the States in 1991. Georgia's charm, with its fireflies and warmer winters, quickly grew on her, although she occasionally finds herself reminiscing about the snow-capped mountains of BC and the mesmerizing Northern Lights. As a co-owner and since the inception of Screens of Georgia in 1995, Leanne has been the backbone of the operational side, managing accounting, purchasing, inventory, and even assisting with installations when needed.
Derek and Leanne have woven their family values into the fabric of Screens of Georgia. Their personal journey, including fostering and adopting their two youngest sons, Juan and Adrian, reflects their deep commitment to caring for others. Their oldest son, Jordan, a Georgia Tech graduate and electrical engineer, and their daughter, Mikaela, currently attending medical school, are testaments to the supportive and nurturing environment Derek and Leanne have fostered both at home and within the business.
